A Guide to P & C Activities
The P & C meets
each month on the first Wednesday of the month, at 7.30pm in
the school library.
The P & C would
warmly welcome new members, mothers and fathers, who would
like to participate further in the education of their
children and the well-being of the school. It is also an
excellent way of becoming familiar with the running of the
school and a great opportunity to get to know other parents
as well as the teachers. It is also a means by which you can
have a say in how moneys raised are spent in the school.
The P & C is also
responsible for the following services:
The Canteen
operates each
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Children obtain lunch bags
from the canteen. Please write on the bag your child’s name,
class, order and price. Place the money in the bag. The bag
is placed in a container kept in each hat room in the
Kindergarten to Year 2 classes. In Years 3 to 6, the
children take their lunch orders directly to the canteen
before 9.30am.
Price lists are
reviewed regularly and sent home with the newsletters.
A co-ordinator is
paid to manage the canteen but relies on mothers to help.
All profits go back to the school so it provides a great
service for your children. If you can help, please fill in
the form when it is sent home requesting help.
The Clothing Pool
has cheap, clean
school clothing available for sale. Access to the clothing
pool is available through the front office.
Family Contributions
are reviewed at
the first P & C meeting of the year. The P & C sets an
amount to cover each child so that the amount of fund
raising carried out each year is kept to a minimum. This
money goes directly to the P & C accounts.
The contribution
can be paid in one whole payment or, alternatively, in
instalments. A note will be sent home early in the year
after the amount has been set.
Text Book Sales:
The P & C assists
the school by manning the stall to sell the K-6 textbooks
during the first weeks of Term 1.
School Banking:
Parents have taken
on the role of bank tellers for student banking. The P & C
is paid 35c per transaction. The parent volunteers are
trained to use the school computer to enter the banking
transactions.
They bank the money and enter transactions on the children’s
bankbooks. The bankbooks are collected on Tuesdays and the
parents do the banking on Wednesday mornings.
Volunteers are
welcome to join the team.
